Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care that addresses the root causes of illness, and promotes health and healing using natural therapies.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavorable lifestyle habits. Naturopathic medicine emphasizes disease as a process rather than as an entity.

Treating both acute and chronic conditions, naturopathic treatments are chosen based on the individual patient - their physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture physical medicine and hydrotherapy may also be used during treatments.

Naturopathic Medicine is provided by Sasha Tahiliani, N.D. Sasha Tahiliani, ND is a licensed naturopathic doctor and clinical hypnotherapist.

His interest in the role of psychology and spirituality in health inspired him to earn a double major in both biology and psychology from McMaster University, before going on to complete his medical training at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Sasha's objective is to gain a full understanding of his patient and their current situation by analyzing what is occurring and then 'putting the pieces together'. Working with the patient and their other health care professionals he will gather information by asking detailed questions about their health concerns and health history, conducting the appropriate physical examination and suggesting lab testing where required.

With the knowledge obtained, Sasha will coach his patient in removing obstacles that impede health and recommend steps to be taken to promote healing and achieve their goals. This will be with education, contemporary medical techniques and natural therapies including clinical nutrition, lifestyle counseling, Asian medicine (acupuncture), botanicals and homeopathy, hydrotherapy and physical medicine.
